Chapter Leader / Pulaski County KY
My name is Christen Gibson me and my husband Jeff have two small children Lylah and Grayson. We love our community in Somerset, Kentucky. If I am not writing or studying, you can find me having an adventure in nature or with a cup of coffee in my hand, watching Gilmore Girls, or with my nose in good book. Life is a whirlwind in this season of our life, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have been journaling since the moment I learned how to write complete sentences. It took me a while to understand my love for writing was a calling. I spent nearly eight years changing majors and dropping in and out of college until the COVID-19 pandemic pushed me to pursue what I have always loved: Writing. I finished two associates degrees at Somerset Community College in December of 2020 while fulfilling my role of managing editor at SCC’s The Bridge student newspaper. I had volunteered and wrote for this publication before, but as the managing editor, I fell in love with journalism and continued to pursue higher education at Eastern Kentucky University. My studies currently focus on multimedia journalism. I have worked in social media, news writing, photography and news writing at The Eastern Progress Media network and am due to graduate with my Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting and electronic media in December 2022 while serving as managing editor of The EP.
My passion for writing has gone beyond the realms of journalism. Recently, I realized I could serve God with this passion. Writing stories to inspire others and work on writing my first book is how I am stepping into my calling. Helping others find this passion and manifest it in their life is becoming a passion of mine as well. Here I am. and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us along our journey to stepping into our higher calling as God’s scribes. Let us connect and encourage each other.
